Funeral Catering

Dorset, Devon and Somerset

At Kit & Kee we understand how important it is that memorial service, wake or funeral catering is organised efficiently and sensitively. We cook food in season, sourcing exceptional ingredients from our organic farm in Devon and are as adept at making delicate canapes for hundreds of guests in a marquee as a small buffet lunch in a church hall. Our professional staff will guide you through the planning process beforehand, and look after your guests with courtesy and kindness during the event.

Hugo and Chris were great at communicating from the start and devised a beautiful menu full of mouth-watering flavour combinations. On the day, the food was as delicious as it sounded and everybody loved it. The ingredients were seasonal and fresh. The canapés were as plentiful as we had hoped. Their event managers, Esther and Dan, were delights and took any stress out of the day, as did the chefs. Logistically we weren’t the easiest place to cater for but this didn’t phase them and the food was as good as it gets. Would certainly highly recommend Kit and Kee to anybody.

Funeral Catering Services

Organising catering for funerals and wakes can be daunting. We have over twenty years’ experience and are able to help guide you through the planning process, liaising with your chosen venue and taking care of all the staff, hiring of equipment if necessary, supplying excellent food and clearing up afterwards.

Food and sustainable farming is our passion – our menus are distinctive, truly seasonal and based on a respect for exceptional ingredients grown on our farm and nearby. We feel strongly that the age-old ritual of sharing food after a sad occasion that brings families, friends and old acquaintances together should be marked by exceptional, memorable food.

For funeral catering we often offer teas, canapes, buffets, ‘finger food’, informal sharing dishes for seated meals and formal plated service. We can advise on what type of service might work best in any situation and are adept at working in unusual locations, from muddy fields to ancient church halls.

Thanks so much for cooking for us. It was delicious as always. To see the fruits of the garden and of the moment prepared with such love and originality is always a pleasure.

Funeral catering – the process

The first step is to contact us using the form below. We will then arrange a time for a call to discuss your requirements and talk through options before putting together a quotation and sample menu to show the ingredients that will be at their best on the farm and a menu that will be suitable for the situation and the venue.

If we are on the right tracks, our Executive Chef will arrange a call to finalise the menu while our Events Manager guides you through the logistics of the event and organises the hire of any equipment required and books all the necessary staff.

We know from experience that whoever is charged with organising catering for a funeral is often extremely busy with other tasks, as well as having experienced a very sad loss.

Delicious food is essential, and we think a sustainable, seasonal approach is also important, but, on a day when extraneous stress must be minimised, an efficient, experienced catering company that will ensure the event and its planning run smoothly helps tremendously.

Kit and Kee were fantastic! Chris and Hugo were great from the start. They were great at discussing our requests and all the various dietary requirements we had. The team on the day were brilliant, from the chefs to the waiting staff who were really attentive, friendly and professional.

Sustainable Catering

Kit & Kee is based on an organic farm which is committed to sustainable, regenerative agriculture. We believe that looking after the land in this way makes better tasting, healthier ingredients. We also believe that we have a responsibility to farm, and to work, in a sustainable manner.

We rear much of our own meat, using traditional, slow-growing breeds which are hardier, and well-adapted to living outside on organic pasture.

Sustainable catering to us means using ingredients produced, transported and packed in a responsible way – on the whole that means organic, but it can also mean using wild foods (foraged responsibly) and also using small scale local producers who we know and trust.

It also mean that we are aware of our footprint in every aspect of the business – we are far from perfect, but we strive to reduce waste, to recycle, and to reduce our consumption wherever we can.
